Unlocking Economic Opportunity with a New Brand

Canandaigua, NY is called “The Chosen Spot” for a reason. Quality living, meaningful work, and a vibrant culture define this lakefront city located in the Finger Lakes. The Canandaigua Local Development Corporation is a joint venture formed by the Town and City of Canandaigua and the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce to unlock economic opportunities and steward investment for businesses. The joint venture launched in 2020 and was in need of a visual presence that would unify these two entities.

We began our strategic guidance by developing a bright, modern logo with flowing linework meant to emulate Canandaigua Lake and nod to the flexibility of work-life balance found in the community. We kept typography and linework bold and clean – this is a modern brand meant to look towards to the future, after all! We then built a Squarespace website that the Canandaigua LDC could maintain easily and economically for years to come. Our creative process helped us get to the heart of Canandaigua’s culture and jumpstart the LDC’s vision of a vibrant community.
